Most Vaccinated State (VT) Has Record Number of COVID Cases. But How?

https://vtdigger.org/2021/11/04/vermont-reports-record-setting-487-covid-19-cases/

The 487 new Covid-19 cases reported Thursday by the Vermont Department of Health breaks the record for a one-day case total by more than 100 cases.

The spike comes after a lull of mixed case numbers, where the seven-day average wavered between 200 and 220 cases per day. Now, with Thursday’s big bump, the seven-day average has risen to 247 cases per day.

The last time Vermont shattered its previous one-day case total — with 330 cases on Sept. 15 — the health department blamed the number on a computer error that artificially delayed test results.

But this time, “the numbers are accurate and there are no associated glitches or delays,” department spokesperson Ben Truman confirmed via email.

Vermont is the most vaccinated state (81% of those eligible are vaccinated) and have broken their previous record for number of cases by more than a 100.

I wonder how anyone capable of rational thought could read this data and still have "vaccine hesitancy." If they do, it's obviously just from "misinformation" they read on Gab.

One would assume the "misinformation" angle would be, "yea, but it's all the unvaccinated people's fault. If everybody got the vaccine then COVID would go away."

But, how can you make that argument when there are more cases now than pre-vax? And not just more, but 2.5x more?

Let's do a simple thinking exercise:

If 80% of the population were vaccinated what result would be most likely:

a. cases decrease by 80%

b. cases increase by 250%

People began taking the vaccine in mid-Dec. At that time, the rolling 7-day average was 105/100k (and that was in the peak of the pandemic). It takes 5 weeks to be fully protected by the 2-shot full-dose. By that time (Feb 1) the rolling average was 135/100k (again, peak winter and peak of the pandemic). Fast forward to today (Nov 3) and that average is now up to 247/100k (late fall with 80% vaxed almost 2 years into the pandemic). And it's all because 20% of the population didn't take a couple of injections.

How could anyone think that?

And yet, many do:
